The Great Christmas Barbie

My fondest memory of Christmas was created when I was four. I have recently discovered Barbie dolls and my sister, eight years, was a Barbie fanatic. Our age difference is that we are rarely interested in the same toys at the same time, so that our parents took full advantage of the opportunity to encourage us to play together. Hence the Christmas Great Barbie.

My sister, Val, and I have been accustomed to homemade gifts from our parents such as clothing and furniture for doll house doll, with some important elements such as roller skates and baby doll from Santa. This particular Christmas was different. I obtained a soft, fuzzy teddy bear mom and dad, but the majority of our donations were related to Barbie.

We raised in the seventies, then it means that Barbie was wearing shoes and pants in velvet corner. I imagine walking in the alley Barbie Toys' R Us was probably more colorful and enjoyable as the slightly nauseating, chewing gum pink and purple hot experience that today. Our Barbies wore a lot of earth tones and primary colors, shades, which are much easier on the eyes.

Along with the dolls Barbie came to their furniture, and that's where the fun began. At the time, the furniture was air. Val and I had fun like jumping small chairs, end tables, coffee tables and dining furniture. One thing that has been significantly lacking a home. As excited as we were, we were also typical of young children and so we asked: "Where is the dream house of Barbie?

Looking back, I'm embarrassed by my self to four years. Our parents did not have much money when they were raising us, and as an adult and a parent, I understand now how they should have tried to give these gifts. This was by far the most extravagant Christmas we've ever had and it was not cheap. My lack of recognition must have hit my mother particularly difficult because she grew up in poverty and was so excited to give us the things she could not have only dreamed as a child.

Mom took it in good grace and the true spirit of Christmas. Instead of letting on that we had hurt, she cheerfully suggested we go down and set up a "house" on the home near the wood stove. We reluctantly agreed and spent the rest of Christmas morning, happy to create living spaces for our Barbies.

I learned two things Christmas. The first is that without the area Game restrictive than Barbie Dream Home would have imposed, we have been able to use our imagination to create much larger homes for our dolls. The other thing I learned is that karma works quickly. About three hours after I threw my fit of anger on the house of Barbie, I had my tongue stuck under our metal shielded door. I spent the rest of Christmas Day with ice cubes linked to my tongue with gauze.
